# El Mundo de los Ositos

El Mundo de los Ositos ("The World of the Little Bears") is a Spanish-learning world for young children,
ages 2 to 7, made for families raising bilingual kids in the United States.
It uses Mexican Spanish, is warm and playful, and is never scary.

## What it is
- A cast of round plush bear cubs. Each bear has one readable trait and a signature sound kids shout back
  (Osito Burbuja blows bubbles, ¡POP!; Osito Lobo howls, ¡AUUUU!).
- The original alphabet is 27 bears, A to Z plus Ñ. Collections have grown around it: the Halloween bears, and
  El Bosque Encantado, ten nature bears who live in an enchanted forest and invite families to unplug and play outside.
- Illustrated bilingual books on Amazon, among them "El abecedario de los Ositos" and
  "¡Brilla, Osito Estrella, brilla!".
- YouTube videos for kids (https://www.youtube.com/@hola-ositos):
  - movement and exercise games ("pausas activas")
  - first-person song adventures
  - interactive read-along stories
  - learning songs
- Songs on streaming services and an Instagram account (https://www.instagram.com/holaositos).

## Goals
1. Help children fall in love with Spanish through stories, songs, movement and play, not drills.
2. Give non-fluent parents simple tools to use Spanish at home with their kids.
3. Get kids moving and playing outside, and offer calm, screen-light moments.
4. Show many kinds of families with warmth.
5. Keep everything safe, kind and made for kids: no scary content, no ads aimed at children, made-for-kids video settings.

## How you can help
We welcome collaborators and suggestions:
- **Spanish:** educators and native Mexican-Spanish reviewers.
- **Making things:** illustrators, animators, musicians and songwriters.
- **Families:** parents and teachers with feedback.
- **Growing the project:** developers, and people who know children's media, YouTube for kids, accessibility, or how to reach bilingual families.
